Here's a few Kickstarter projects The CCG and Boardgame Social have backed and why. Some of them will be on our virtual shelves soon, send a message to reserve your copy!

Local hero Mark Rapson follows up his successful Kickstarter The Devil's run: Route 666 with The Devil's Run: Hell's HighwayThe Devil's Run: Hell's Highway is a standalone Kickstarter exclusive expansion to the popular fast-moving and hard-hitting vehicular combat board game - The Devil's Run: Route 666. It is designed for 2-6 players and is set in a post-apocalyptic America. It comes with all new models and we hope to include lots of extras as the campaign progresses.

An expansion for the fantastic family card game Ember. From the Ashes - A Standalone Expansion for Ember brings more gameplay and fantastic creatures for you to build into your deck and score!

Hero Master - fantasy game and RPG humour greetings cards - a great idea from Jamie at The Noble Artist. When you're hunting around for the perfect card, do you find you have to sift through a load of generic cards you've seen a hundred times before? Well...not anymore!

In Martians: A Story of Civilization you must survive andd thrive in the hostile environment, explore the natural resources, expand your base and become the leader of colonists. Much heralded in Essen 2016 it is a Cooperative/cooperative-competitive/competition board game for 1-4 players with the core mechanics of worker placement.

Fugitive is an easy to pick up card game for two. It's a quick, intense chase between the Fugitive, who is trying to get out of town, and the Marshal, who is trying to catch him before he does.

On their way they'll face many challenges, including a large variety of enemies that range from mobs of evil dwarves to gargantuan demons and spiders. Temp Worker Assassins :Temp Worker Assassins is a fun, strategic and quick multi-player game. Each player takes turns placing assassins in a fantasy office with the aim to steal as much stationery and kill as many full-time employees as possible.

Mistborn: House War

The official board game set in the world of Brandon Sanderson's epic fantasy novel series. This is one we're particulary excited about.

Mistborn: House War puts you in command of the Final Empire's great Houses during the cataclysmic events of Mistborn: The Final Empire.

Together, players must cooperate to solve myriad problems facing the empire, from environmental and social turmoil to political strife and outright rebellion. You'll even face off with Kelsier, Vin, Sazed, and the other heroes of the novels to maintain the delicate balance held in place for the last thousand years.

Simultaneously, you’ll compete to become the most powerful House in the land by currying favor from the almighty Lord Ruler. To win, you must build alliances, negotiate deals, and undermine both your enemies and your allies — all at just the right time. But be careful! Should your stewardship fail, unrest will tear the Final Empire asunder and the House most distancedfrom the Lord Ruler shall emerge the victor.

Perfect Crime: A cooperative heist game for 2-5 players

The CCTV network is active. The laser tripwires installed. The alarms are set. The vault door is heavily upgraded and your bank staff are well equipped. To others, it’s a security nightmare that’s nigh impossible to breach. To you, however, it’s the stage for the Perfect Crime. A Tower defence game from our friends at Grublin (Waggle Dance, Terralith dice, cornish Smuggler)

In Great Scott!, the whimsical 19th century parlour game that never was, 3-5 players draft cards to build ridiculous inventions and then explain them to each other in a bid to impress Her Majesty and become the Royal Inventor. This looks like great, knockaround fun.

Created by a British Designer and reviewed by our good friends at Gaming Knights. Ember is a light card game that's family friendly but has strategies and combos that will keep you playing. It offers different modes of play and difficulty settings.

Ever play Dark Future or love Mad Max? This borrows from those themes and creates a fantastic pick and play experience as well as campaigns. It looks fantastic, has great mechanics and should appeal to board gamers and war gamers alike. Very excited by this one. The Devil's Run: Route 666

This one looks interesting. I have a passing interest in politics and enjoy deduction/spy games. The theme here is going to raise some eyebrows and while I don't hold much store with Cards against Humanity or Exploding Kittens et al I think the subject matter adds to the experience. After all, who wants to be The Secret Hitler?

Crimson Creek is a hack and slash horror card game harking back to the 80's and 90's teen gore fests. Quick and fun, this looks like a great light game with a cool theme.

If you haven't heard of Scythe chances are you've been cryogenically frozen for the last year or so. We have a limited quantity of Regular and Collectors editions available for pre-order. Just ping me an e-mail or facebook message

Creature College is a fantastic, fun and strategic game that will appeal to a broad section of gamers. The theme is strong and it has a great deal of depth and decision making. It's wonderfully produced and I hope (and think it will) be a great success.

Foragers is a strategy game in which players take on the role of ancient foragers competing to be the most respected member of the tribe. It's about getting food and stuff though, you don't get to beat respect into people.

Deception: Murder in Hong Kong is a game of deduction and deception for 4-12 player which plays in about 20 minutes.

In the game, players take on the roles of investigators attempting to solve a murder case – but there’s a twist. The killer is one of the investigators!

Each player’s role and team are randomly assigned at the start of play and include the unique roles of Forensic Scientist, Witness, Investigator, Murderer, or Accomplice. While the Investigators attempt to deduce the truth, the murderer’s team must deceive and mislead. This is a battle of wits!

In Deception, the Forensic Scientist has the solution but can only express the clues using special scene tiles while the investigators (and the murderer) attempt to interpret the evidence. In order to succeed, the investigators must not only deduce the truth from the clues of the Forensic Scientist, they must also see through the misdirection being injected into the equation by the Murderer and Accomplice!

Find out who among you can cut through deception to find the truth and who is capable of getting away with murder!

Mare Nostrum is an empire-building game in which 3-5 players lead their individual ancient empires to dominion of Mare Nostrum. You grow the fame and glory of your empire by expanding your influence into new Provinces, then extending your Trade Caravans, building Markets, and founding new Cities and Temples. You can recruit Heroes and create Wonders to help your cause. But beware of your "friends" because they may look upon your gains with envy and greed...

Mare Nostrum is a re-introduction by Academy Games and Asyncron of the original 2003 release with updated rules, counters, and map board. This edition includes many new components and multiple new ways to win!

In the Thrash'n Roll you will guide the fate of the emerging metal band and try to get as many points of fame as possible.
You start the game with the board with the chosen band. Thanks to it, you will follow the progress of your band. You also get 3 person cards, 5 album counters, 3 skill counters, all wooden counters of the chosen color and 6 dice which will enable your band to perform actions.

If you enjoy drafting, bidding, and surviving end-game tension - all in 20 minutes - Dark Dealings is right up your alley. Whether you play alone or with up to five friends, Dark Dealings is a fast-paced game of strategy that will leave you ready to play again immediately!

Lords of War is a brilliant tactical card game where you battle your opponent with pre-constructed or bespoke armies. It's unlike other card games and the team behind it are fantastic, passionate people. Absolutely worth a look if you haven't seen it before.

A strategic Abbey building game that's had some excellent reviews. The first project of The Kings Abbey was pulled to better organise the logistics and they've done a good job. Randy, the designer is a really positive chap and I've a lot of faith in him. FAITH!!! ABBEY!! You see what I di...........never mind.

From the maker of Pandemic and having similar-ish gameplay from the look of it. Thunderbirds will see players attempting to thwart the evil plans of The Hood and his wannabe villains. This one shows a lot of promise and is one of those games that i think could become more mainstream, converting non-tabletop gamers. Let's hope so.

This one appeals to me on a few levels. Fighting, Pillaging, getting glory before Ragnarok, it's a bit like a typical Saturday night in my home city of Wolverhampton, except in Blood Rage, there's a winner.

It looks like it should be a relaxing journey, taking in the beautiful views whilst you amble towards your destination. Between Two cities has an interesting mechanic, players act at the same time and score their lowest city but partner with players either side, to a degree.

I liked the look of this so much I ordered both the Ltd edition and regular edition retail versions. I see Viceroy as the next Splendor with more puzzle based strategy. I really think the artwork and gameplay is fantastic.

Captain's Wager. Treasure hunting steampunk style with flying pirates. Victory is achieved through bluffing, betting and out-sneaking your opponents. It looks like a great light game and offers decent value for money to boot(y).

My first Kickstarter backing. A game designed by a good friend of mine who has just come back from Essen to launch Waggle Dance. While I'm probably slightly biased it's a fantastic game that looks beautiful. Easy to pick up but with good depth that enables players to interact, stick in a bit of elbow and have plans made/dashed each turn.

Yashima: Legend of the Kami Masters from Greenbrier Games. If you've read the 'about' page of this shop you'll know that I like a bit of a scrap. Yashima would appear to be that, a chance to have a multiplayer fight on a board using a deck of cards piqued my interest. There appears to be a good amount of variety available from the fighting techniques (Kami skills) and character abilities and  and the theme is a bit different to what I've seen recently. Then there's the miniatures aspect. It might be trying to cover all bases as far as who it appeals too or it might be a recipe for a beautiful, tactical game. Either way I'm looking forward to punching someone in the throat with a tortoise technique.

I had too much to drink. It hooked me in, I almost feel ashamed. I ordered 3 copies....with laser dice. LASER CAT ATTACK!!
